Privacy Policy
Last updated: 22 October 2026
This policy explains how FINNOVA LTD ("we") handles personal information in connection with DevCleaner Pro (the "App") and this website, in line with the Australian Privacy Principles under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).
What we collect
The App only sends information off your Mac in the situations listed below.
- Trial registration (when you start a trial): the email address you enter, your name if you give one, a device identifier (see below), your macOS/Darwin version number, your CPU model and the App version.
- License activation and checks: your license key and a device identifier, sent to our license server when you activate the App and when it checks your license. The device identifier is a one-way hash of your Mac's hardware ID (or, for older installs, of your Mac username and computer name). We cannot reverse it to get the original values, but it stays the same for your Mac, so it is a persistent identifier.
- Purchases and subscription management: the plan you choose and your device identifier when you open checkout, and your license key when you open the billing portal. Your email and payment status come to us from Stripe. Card details are handled by Stripe and never reach our servers.
- Pricing information: when the upgrade screen opens, the App asks our server for current prices. This request includes no personal information beyond your IP address.
- Usage statistics: The App aggregates anonymous cleanup metrics (total bytes reclaimed, memory optimized) locally. No file names, paths or code contents are ever transmitted.
- Update checks: about 30 seconds after launch and then periodically, the App checks our release server (finnova.org.au) for a newer version. The server sees your IP address and the App version.
- Your IP address: any service the App connects to, including ours and the third parties listed below, receives your IP address as part of the connection.
What we do not collect
Disk scans, cleanups, the git repository scanner, the duplicate and large-file finders, the process and helper monitors, the AI storage and cost views and the Claude Code usage reader all run on your Mac. No feature sends us your file names, file paths, file contents, project or repository names, git data, or lists of running apps and processes. No feature sends them to anyone else either, unless you type them into an AI chat prompt yourself (see below). We do not collect your Mac username or computer name in readable form.
How we use it
To deliver and license the App, send trial and purchase emails, provide support, prevent license abuse, and — only if you opt in — send product news and offers. You can unsubscribe at any time from any marketing email.
Who we share it with
Service providers that help us operate: Stripe (payments), Resend (transactional email delivery), and Cloudflare (hosting and edge security for our license and update endpoints). We do not sell personal information.
Some App features connect straight from your Mac to third parties. When that happens, the third party's own privacy policy applies and we do not receive the data:
- wttr.in (weather): the App fetches the local temperature when it starts and then about every 15 minutes while the overlay is updating. wttr.in receives your IP address and uses it to estimate your location.
- ipinfo.io and Cloudflare (network tools): opening the speed / network details view sends a request to ipinfo.io, which returns your public IP, approximate city and ISP, and to Cloudflare's speed test service. Running the speed test downloads and uploads test data (random bytes, not your data) to speed.cloudflare.com. The network health check pings Cloudflare's 1.1.1.1 and looks up google.com through your DNS resolver.
- Cloudflare Workers AI (optional, you supply your own account): if you add your Cloudflare Account ID and API token and choose a Cloudflare model, the text of your chat prompt and the agent's instructions go to Cloudflare under your account.
- Ollama cloud (optional, you supply your own key): if you save an Ollama API key, the App can send your chat prompts to api.ollama.com. This happens when you choose a cloud model, and also as a fallback when local Ollama isn't reachable. Without a key, AI chat uses only the Ollama service running on your Mac (127.0.0.1), which can still contact ollama.com if you download a model or pick an Ollama ":cloud" model.
- Anthropic (optional Claude cost gateway): if you start the local AI gateway and point your own tools at it, it passes their requests, including your prompts, code and API key, on to api.anthropic.com unchanged. If you turn on routing, it may switch short requests to a cheaper model. The App only reads token counts from the replies, on your Mac.
- Cloudflare Turnstile: the license screen may load Cloudflare's bot-check widget, which gathers browser and device signals so Cloudflare can tell people from bots.
- Tools you run from the App: actions you start, such as downloading an Ollama model or running Homebrew, npm or Docker commands, contact those tools' own servers in the same way they would if you ran them in Terminal.
The App stores your Jules, Ollama and Cloudflare API keys only in its local settings file on your Mac. It never sends them to us. Some of these providers are located outside Australia, including the United States.
Retention and your rights
We keep purchase records as required by tax law and other data only as long as needed. You can ask to access, correct or delete your information by emailing us. If you are unhappy with our response you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (oaic.gov.au).
